We developed an HR transformation program including a new operating model design for a large oil & gas company
Our Client, one of the top oil & gas companies in CIS was looking for professional advice on the transformation of its HR function. Decreasing oil prices and increasing competition for top talent in the industry prompted the company to start an HR transformation project. However, the HR consultants hired by the Client didn’t apply the industry best practice when designing key elements of the business processes that were to be improved. This led to a stagnation of the project due to multiple complications in the initial implementation phase.
The MCG team brought in oil & gas industry experts in HR transformation as well as expertise in designated functional areas (competencies management, performance management, training & development, recruitment). We analyzed best practices of HR transformation from oil & gas companies in the region as well as other relevant worldwide examples. To mitigate the implementation risks MCG:
• Tailored the industry best practice to the specificities of the Client’s situation;
• Organized, conducted and moderated a large number of meetings to involve the Client project team in the processes design phase and get the company executives to buy in.
Project results: We delivered a solution which involved >50 business processes, >60 process maps for all the key functions, some of which became instructions for changing HR processes. The Client has approved the HR Concept as well as the Operating Model which became a basis for automatization in the following implementation phase.
